This is a galvanized D-shackle, a U-shaped piece of metal used as a connecting link in rigging systems. It is drop forged from high tensile grade 6 carbon steel for strength. The hot-dipped galvanization provides corrosion resistance. The narrow "D" shape makes it suitable for straight-line loads. The screw pin has a hole for grip and to secure it with tie wire, preventing it from loosening.
