Stainless steel coated Dome-shaped bee smoker The Dome-shaped smoker is a German design of beekeeping smokers, an essential tool used by beekeepers to calm bees during hive inspections. A beekeeping smoker consists of a fire chamber, bellows, and a nozzle. The fire chamber holds fuel such as wood chips, dried leaves, or pine needles. The bellows are used to pump air into the fire chamber, keeping the fuel smoldering and producing a steady stream of cool smoke. The smoke masks the bees' alarm pheromones, which helps prevent them from becoming defensive and stinging.
