Description
Bell connector" (or bell fitting) typically refers to a bell-shaped end of a pipe or fitting that allows another pipe to slip inside it, forming a socket joint. This type of connection is commonly found in cast iron, PVC, and clay pipe systems. How It's Used: Push-fit / solvent weld / gasketed joints: In PVC piping, the bell end might include a rubber gasket for a tight seal (gasketed bell). In solvent weld systems, glue is applied before inserting the spigot into the bell end. Cast iron / clay pipes: Often sealed using lead and oakum (older methods) or rubber gaskets (modern).
