# Set of Bar Chimes/Mark Trees

GH₵ 850 · Accra Metropolitan

Structure: It consists of a series of solid metal rods (typically aluminum or brass) of varying lengths suspended vertically from a horizontal wooden block.Pitch Arrangement: The bars are arranged sequentially by length. Sweeping across them from the shortest to the longest bar produces an ascending pitch effect, while sweeping from longest to shortest creates a descending sound. How It Is Played: A musician usually plays the instrument by sweeping a finger, a drumstick, or a metal mallet across the dangling bars, causing them to collide and ring out.Mounting: The chimes are mounted on a heavy-duty, height-adjustable tripod stand, allowing them to remain stable and spin or resonate freely during a live performance.
