The Confession by John Grisham (2010)* is a gripping legal thriller about a wrongful conviction.
In 1998, in Slone, Texas, 16-year-old Black football star Donté Drumm is falsely accused of murdering a white cheerleader, Nicole Yarber, whose body was never found. Despite no evidence, he is sentenced to death.
Nine years later in Kansas, Travis Boyette, the real killer dying of a brain tumor, confesses to Reverend Keith Schroeder and reveals where he buried her.
With only four days until Donté’s execution, Keith must bring Boyette to Texas. It’s a race against time, racism, and a broken justice system desperate to kill an innocent man.
