1. Cut SURGIFOAM to the determined size and shape
 2. Prior to applying to the bleeding site, compress the sponge.
 3. Hold the SURGIFOAM sponge in place with moderate pressure 
 4. Removal of excess SURGIFOAM sponge can be accomplished with gentle irrigation of the site, completely wetting the sponge

8. The portion of the sponge that is adhering to the bleeding site and achieving homeostasis may be left in place, excess sponge should be removed.
