# Cover Glass

A cover glass (or coverslip) is a thin, flat piece of transparent material placed over a specimen on a microscope slide. Its primary uses are to flatten wet samples to an even thickness, protect delicate specimens from damage, and shield the microscope’s objective lenses from direct contact with the sample.
